· Build/refine your quilter’s toolkit of essential skills to increase your piecing accuracy for success in all your quilting projects.
· This lap quilt demonstrates:
o An accurate, efficient method for making a ½ rectangle
o Vertical row quilt construction
o Simple strip pieced background
o Big stitch hand quilted binding
· This lap quilt is designed to use the Studio 180 Designs Tool: Split Rects
· This workshop is be structured as a 1 day workshop. Additional personal sewing time will be required for completion of the quilt top, quilting and binding the quilt.

1 Day Workshop (6 ½ hours)
· It all starts with a ½ rectangle – participants will build on a simple half rectangle technique to construct the Arrow unit. Fabric and color choices will make the Arrows pop. Avoid fabric waste typical of traditional ½ rectangle construction. Tackle accurate finished 4” x 8” and 2” x 4” half rectangle units without hesitation.
· Finish it up with a Big Stitch hand quilted binding. Participants will learn how apply binding for this effective technique to add interest to your quilt bindings.
Geometric Pillow Workshop
What you will learn:
· Build/refine your quilter’s toolkit of essential skills to increase your piecing accuracy for success in all your quilting projects.
· This pillow demonstrates:
o Three different fundamental quilting techniques, half square triangles, curved piecing and accurate small flying geese units
o Insertion of a flanged zipper and
o Big stitch hand quilting.
· The pillow is designed to use the Studio 180 Design Tools: Magic Wand, Tucker Trimmer, and Wing Clipper.
· This workshop is be structured as a 1 day workshop. Additional personal sewing time will be required for completion of the hand quilting on the pillow.

1 Day Workshop (6 ½ hours)
· It all starts with a ½ square triangle – participants will build on a simple HST technique to construct the offset square block. Fabric and color choices will make the block pop. Avoid those pins in piecing an accurate curved seam for a drunkard’s patch block. Tackle accurate finished 1” x 2” flying geese units without hesitation.
· Add a flanged zipper for a professional touch for your pillow.
· Finish it up with a combination of domestic machine quilting and Big Stitch hand quilting. Participants will learn how simple straight stitch quilting echoing the blocks will add wow to the pieced block.
Calendar Block Workshop
What you will learn:
· Build/refine your quilter’s toolkit of essential skills to increase your piecing accuracy for success in all your quilting projects.
· Each block demonstrates a different quilting technique, building a quilter’s toolkit of skills.
· Several of the blocks are designed to use the Studio 180 Design Tools:
· The blocks can be assembled as:
o A 58” x 60” quilt
o A 30” x 90” bed runner
o A 20” pillow with sashing
· This workshop can be structured as a 1 or 2 day workshop. Additional personal sewing time will be required for completion of all sampler blocks.
· It all starts with a ½ square triangle – participants will build on a simple HST technique to construct 3 different blocks* – Crazy Eights – the eight at once HST technique, Hourglass fillers –don’t lose those corners on your hourglass blocks and Curve it Up– a wonky trimmed hourglass block with a curved drunkard’s path block.
· Finish it up with ½ rectangles made easy – participants will build their repertoire of ½ blocks and construct – Rectangle Flow – ½ rectangles made easy starting with minimal waste.
· *Completion of all the blocks will dependent upon the overall skill set of all of the participants. The Hourglass block may be a demo, should time be limited.
